- “300 Violin Orchestra”, Jorge (John) Quintero; 300 Violin Orchestra – Jorge Quintero (High Quality); a more intense instrumental–to be played at a monumental event in the screenplay–for example, when the travelers leave Latabat for the first time or when they return to fight in the civil war (could even be a song that is present in call-backs to relate different scenes throughout the film back to one another
- “Nica’s Theme” from the movie The Tearsmith, composed by Andrea Farri; THE TEARSMITH • Nica’s Theme – Soundtrack from the Netflix Film by Andrea Farri; kind of a haunting melody; a dark tone with some inspirational notes to it– what I want it to feel like as the travelers try to figure out how to survive in the world and make it through while they are also losing hope/facing despair
- “Archer”, Taylor Swift; Taylor Swift – The Archer (Lyric Video); the sound and tone of this song isn’t necessarily exactly what I am going for with my screenplay. However, the story behind it connects fairly closely with the Trusted One, especially in terms of his relation to his own appearance, his past/the flashbacks that will be revealed throughout Act II, and his preparations for battle in Act III
- “mad woman”, Taylor Swift; Taylor Swift – mad woman (Official Lyric Video); this song fits well into my screenplay because it has the dark, ominous sound behind it that I am really trying to convey throughout my entire story; I also like the theme of “mad woman” for the arcs/progressions of the main characters, especially Plurmef and Renege, as they come to understand that they have been fooled by the person they had once trusted most and start to feel a sense of vengefulness to defeat the Trusted One and restore their nation
- “Anything But”, Hozier; Hozier – Anything But (Official Audio); “Anything But” has a more upbeat, joyful, adventurous tone than these other songs, but it’s a significant element of the story that I want to make sure to highlight. The majority of the screenplay follows the travelers as they venture through the world and form lasting relationships, so this song mainly serves to illuminate the positive, personal connections that arise in the story and the sense of adventure the travelers take on.
Overview:
As I think about my screenplay, I envision the soundtrack of it to encapsulate and underline the most important aspects of the story. For the most part, these elements of significance have to do with the overall tone and mood (which are largely dark, mysterious, and ominous), with the stages of development each of the characters go through, and with the relationships the characters form as they embark on their adventure. Thus, I aimed to choose songs that connect with each of these specific parts of “Disturbance”. For instance, “300 Violin Orchestra” and “Nica’s Theme” portray the dark, mysterious, and ominous tones/moods behind the adventure, while “Archer” and “mad woman” connect more directly to the individual characters and how they evolve as the story progresses. Likewise, “Anything But” demonstrates the elements of relationships and adventure by playing into the positive, wistful sentiments associated with each.
